At Bare Necessities Dog Training, we’re here to help you build the relationship you’ve always wanted with your dog. That might mean overcoming behaviour struggles, improving obedience, feeling more confident on walks, or simply enjoying life together without stress.
Our goal isn’t just to teach behaviours — it’s to help you understand why your dog behaves the way they do and give you the tools to communicate with them clearly and effectively.
We believe training should feel supportive, empowering, and realistic for everyday life. When you succeed, your dog succeeds — and that’s exactly what we’re here for.
We are deeply committed to our clients and will always give 110% to support you and your dog. In return, we work best with owners who are equally willing to invest time, consistency, energy, and effort into the process. Dog training is not always linear. Progress comes with ups and downs, trial and error, and a willingness to stay consistent even when things feel challenging. While we aim to make training practical, realistic, and enjoyable for busy lifestyles, lasting results still require commitment outside of the sessions themselves.
We are not here to provide quick fixes or train your dog for you. Our goal is to teach you how to understand, communicate with, and guide your dog confidently for years to come. If you are ready to put in the work and grow alongside your dog, we are ready to support you every step of the way.
Dogs are always communicating — the key is learning how to understand what they’re saying.
Our methods are rooted in science-backed, reward and play-based positive reinforcement training, but we go far beyond just the behaviour you see. We take a holistic approach, looking at everything that shapes your dog’s world: genetics, diet, exercise, environment, past experiences, and emotional wellbeing — because all of it comes into play. But what truly sets this apart is how we show up for you.
Here, you’re not just working with a dog trainer — you have a coach, a guide, and someone in your corner who truly gets it. As dog owners and handlers ourselves, we understand the challenges, the frustration, and the moments that feel overwhelming.
Around here, we get it — and our approach reflects that.
This is a supportive, judgment-free space where you and your dog are seen, heard, and genuinely guided through the process. Whether you’re navigating puppy chaos, surviving teenage madness, or working through fear, trauma, or behavioural challenges, you’re not doing it alone.
We don’t just teach behaviour — we help you build understanding, confidence, and connection so you can create real, lasting change and a stronger bond with your dog.
We take a science-informed, force-free approach that focuses on clear communication, emotional wellbeing, and practical real-life results. Training should make sense to both ends of the leash — We build behaviour through motivation, using food, play, and praise to create understanding and cooperation. Our role is to guide, educate, and support you so you feel confident navigating your dog. We don’t believe in control through force — we believe in influence through trust. When that connection is built, reliability and safety follow naturally.
